Frequently Asked Questions

Can we keep the fish?

Yes! When you take a fishing Charter with us, the trip is 100% yours. Keep as much fish as you would like.

What time do we meet for the fishing charters?

Our fishing tours generally start first thing in the morning, usually meeting at the boat ramp between 6:00 and 6:30. Here on the west coast of Puerto Rico, the wind generally picks up after 11:00. We are flexible and if you would like a later time feel free to ask.

Where do we meet you for the fishing tours?

We usually launch our fishing boat at the Marina in Rincón. From the Rincón location we have easy access to Desecheo National Wildlife Refuge, Reserva Marina Tres Palmas, and Mayagüez.

In the event we are fishing or just sight seeing more to the south, we may put in at the Combate boat landing. From there, we often visit Boquerón, the lighthouse in Cabo Rojo (Faro Los Morrillos), Playa Sucia and Playuela, and Playa Buyé.

If we fish or have a snorkeling tour to the north we sometimes leave from Aguadilla. From there we are close to Crash Boat, Pena Blanca, Wilderness, and Shacks Beach.

What do we need to bring on our trip?

Simply Caught Charters is an all inclusive boat rental / charter fishing company. We will supply drinks and snacks, all fishing and snorkel equipment, a processional, fully equipped, coast guard inspected vessel and captain. We do not supply alcohol but feel free to BYOB. Also, if you are prone to sea sickness please take medication or speak to us about ways to keep the boat in calm waters.

What is the best time of year to fish?

This is a tough question…. Puerto Rico’s fishing seasons change from month to month and offer different opportunities depending on the time of year. This said, there is not really a bad time of year to fish the west coast of Puerto Rico. Please refer to our Fishing Calendar to plan your next fishing adventure with us.

Are Kids Allowed?

Absolutely! Kids always fish for free. Capt. Frank will go above and beyond to make sure kids have a great day on the water. Take a kid fishing!

Is it customary to tip?

It is customary to leave a tip. The Charter business is a service based industry so if you think your captain/mate took pride in their work and put the clients first please leave a tip. 20% is customary. Thank you!

Who will clean our fish?

Simply Caught Charters offers free fish cleaning. If you would like us to clean your catch we will take it back to our shop for processing and you can pick it up later in the day or the following morning. We also offer vacuum sealing, freezing, and labeling. We try to go above and beyond so please remember tips are greatly appreciated.
