Simply Caught Charters was developed on the heels of Simply Caught Seafood, out of NC. There Captain Frank ran fishing charters and sold fresh local seafood to the many fine residents western North Carolina. During his 30 years of chartering and seafood he has developed a vast array of fishing techniques that he has brought with him to Puerto Rico. “To be successful everyday you need to be versatile and know when to switch gears to keep the fish coming over the rail.” - Cpt. Frank.
Our Fishing Tours specialize in Big Game for the sole reason that it’s our favorite! Heavy drag and the complications that arise is what keeps us looking to improve. This is also what we pride ourselves in. We also understand that not everyone is looking for a giant. With our fishing background we utilize a vast array of techniques. We typically start off the morning trolling looking for bait, birds, and any signs of marine life. Captain Frank often deploys a combination of ballyhoo, hard plastic Marlin lures, dredges, teasers, and plugs until he is able to fine tune what the gamefish prefer. If things are not red hot, he often turns to jigging and live bait to get to the mid water and bottom gamefish.
Lets take a moment and talk about live bait fishing. Live bait is extremely effective when fish are piled up on a certain location. Simply Caught Charters loves to pitch Sardines and small Snapper to Tuna and Wahoo both. However, in doing so you are stuck to a small fishing spot and you don’t have the ability to explore and find new fish. This said, our charter business is much more aggressive in our fishing styles than 90% of other charter boats on the west coast of Puerto Rico. If the fish are not piled up then we are probably not going to take 2 hours off your fishing trip to catch bait. This is where our knowledge in progressive fishing techniques really shine. On a typical fishing trip in Puerto Rico, with Simply Caught, you often get to experience 2-4 different fishing techniques. Unless we are marlin or Swordfish fishing, we are going on the hunt till we find a good population of fish.
With this being said Capt. Frank fishes out of multiple locations depending on weather and where the bite is. Most of our trips run out of Rincon Marina. However, please be prepared that if the bite is hot to the North off Isabella or to the South, such as Combate or Parguera, we will try to convince you to meet us there. The best thing about the fishing in Puerto Rico is that it is super easy to trailer the boat to different locations and experience completely different fisheries and weather conditions.
Capt. Frank always has the clients best interest in mind and will not save money fishing locally if he knows there are better opportunities close by.
